Phuket International Airport (HKT)
Airport Information

(Phuket, Thailand)

Phuket Airport (HKT) Information: Photo of the city viewLocated at the northern end of Thailand's beautiful Phuket Island and close to both Ban Muang Mai and Thalang, Phuket International Airport (HKT) is to be found off the south-west Andaman Sea coast. Phuket is Thailand's largest island and the airport is conveniently close to the northerly bridge, which connects the nearby mainland.

Phuket International Airport receives international flights from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, as well as charter flights from Europe during the high season. The facility also receives domestic flights from all over Thailand, although the majority of flights are from Bangkok, where most international visitors arrive and depart from. Phuket International Airport handles over eight million passengers, 13,000 tons of freight and almost 60,000 flights a year, operated by around ten regular airlines, with Thai Airways International being especially notable.

The Phuket area is a very popular holiday destination and despite Phuket International Airport handling a relatively small number of annual passengers, it is actually the second busiest airport in Thailand. This means that it can get quite busy and crowded during the high season, which generally falls between the months of November and April each year.

About Phuket Tourism

Thailand's biggest and most significant island, Phuket is one of the country's southerly provinces and bursting with tourist appeal. The very heart of the island is filled with coconut plantations, rice fields and areas of rain forest, although it is the island's spectacular coastline that is the reason why so many visitors fly into Phuket Airport (HKT) each year.

Filled with lengthy stretches of sand, rocky outcrops and stunning cliff faces, Phuket is edged with many thriving tourist resorts, which tend to be clustered on the western side of the island. Patong Beach is especially popular and a great place for partying as the sun sets, while Nai Yang Beach is perfect for scuba diving and further water sports, being almost adjacent to the airport itself and next to northerly Phuket City, the island's busy capital. Further attractions on the island include sportfishing, yachting, Phuket Zoo, the FantaSea amusement park and the Wat Phra Tong temple, within the Thalang suburb of the city.
