Phuket Airport (HKT) Travel and Transport: Airport viewThe transport options from Phuket International Airport are limited to bus, taxi and limousine services.

However, all Phuket resorts are easily accessible from the airport and most destinations can be reached in less than a one-hour drive.

Buses

There are no public bus services to Phuket International, but there are official airport minibuses. Minibuses run to destinations all over the island and stop at most major hotels and resorts; they can be booked from the airport information counter. Buses leave when they are full and the journey time depends on where passengers are dropped off. It is also possible for a group of passengers to hire a whole minibus. Be aware that some minibus drivers will tell you that there is no room at your chosen hotel and try to persuade you to take a room in another hotel where they will receive a commission.

Shuttle Buses

Many of the bigger hotels and resorts send courtesy shuttle buses to the airport to pick up their guests. Passengers should enquire about the availability of these services when booking their accommodation.

Trains

There is no rail service on Phuket. The closest mainline station is on the mainland at Phun Pin, just outside Surat Thani, 109 miles / 175 km away. From here, you can transfer to Phuket by bus.

Taxi Cabs

The easiest and quickest way to get to your destination from the airport is to catch a taxi. Taxis can be caught outside the terminal building. Make sure you agree on the fare before you travel and be aware that taxi drivers may well try to take you to a hotel where they receive a commission rather than to the hotel of your choice, which they may claim is full. If possible, it is recommended that you take a metered cab.

Limousines

There are official airport limousine taxis at the airport. These can be booked at the desk in the Arrivals Hall.
